Important update regarding works in St. Mary’s River Park – 9th February 2026
During the construction of the ten new social housing units at Riverside Cappamore it was necessary to install site hoarding on the river park area. This hoarding is currently being removed and all building materials will be removed in the coming week. When weather permits, new top soil and grass seed will be installed on the park side of the boundary wall.
The entrance stone wall to the River Park area had to be removed to allow access to the ESB. This wall will be reinstated shortly. A new pedestrian gate and a second larger gate (wide enough for a JCB) will be installed. This work cannot be completed until the ESB gains access to this ground and installs a new pole for electricity supply to the new housing development
As part of the ESB connection to the site, an underground cable also had to be installed. This involved the digging of a trench across the entrance area of the park, which is now completed. When weather permits, new top soil and grass seed will be installed on areas where work has taken place. The stone flag pathway will also be reinstated shortly as part of the restoration works.
